Benjamin Gonzalez, President of Transports Goëvia, tells us how the company is limiting its carbon footprint and accelerating its digital transition via its e-commerce transport reservation store.

Could you introduce your company to us?

Goëvia is a family business with an industrial dimension. Located in Vayres near Bordeaux (33), but also in Tonnay-Charente (17) and Cestas (33), we ensure the shipping of goods (pallets and lengths) for professionals! Goëvia is part of the Evolutrans network of carriers, which allows us to deliver goods throughout France within 24/48 hours, but also to serve continental Europe.

You are actively involved in the energy transition. Could you tell us more?

In order to reduce its CO2 emissions, the company relies primarily on a modern fleet. Goëvia renews its fleet of vehicles every 5 years and has 100% Hybrid or Euro 6 engines. New for 2021, Goëvia will complete its fleet with 8 new vehicles powered by a different renewable energy: rapeseed oil. This B100 fuel (100% rapeseed) has a very positive carbon balance. Compared to fossil diesel, it reduces fine particle emissions by up to 80%. It is therefore a fuel that is totally compatible with our desire to act responsibly and to acquire increasingly clean vehicles.

You have taken over the family business and are now focusing on digitalization, why?

Since one year, our customers can book their transportation online via our e-commerce site Goevia Online. The principle is simple: they indicate the weight, dimensions and destination of their goods. In a few clicks they order a transport and have access to all their documents (tracking, invoices, etc.). Our customers can also pay online, which considerably reduces the payment time, known to be sometimes a bit long with carriers. We are convinced that e-commerce meets the needs of our customers who are increasingly turned towards digital and hope to develop the solution alongside them, thanks to our partner Bary, the carrier application!
