The story of a carrier on the island of Ré, specialist of the Atlantic coast

Tourists flock to the Charente-Maritime island of Ré all year round to enjoy its coastline, landscapes and idyllic setting. Between Grenettes beach, Montamer beach, Petit Sergent beach and Gros Joncs beach, families are free to choose their favorite spot for sunbathing, swimming and simply soaking up the sun. In this seaside area, all kinds of professionals may need the services of a transporter on the Ile de Ré: this is the case for restaurateurs, but also for shopkeepers and many other trades. Are you looking for a local company with real know-how that can adapt to your every need? Choose Transports Goëvia, a long-standing player in road transport in Gironde, Charente-Maritime and the Atlantic coast in general.

A transport company close to the Ile de Ré that is above all human

GLS (formerly Transports Goëvia), which operates not only in Gironde but also in Charente-Maritime and on the Ile de Ré, was founded in 2001 by Eve and Joël Gonzalez. Just one year later, the couple launched GLS Charente-Maritime, to offer a transport solution near the Ile de Ré, Ile d’Oléron or La Rochelle to all those who have expressed these needs.

To serve an even wider area, the road haulage company between Bordeaux and Ile de Ré joined forces with Transports Lhéritier in 2008, with a view to setting up an LGT Île-de-France branch and delivering more easily to the Paris region. The development of GLS transport across a wide national territory continues in 2011, with the creation of the subsidiary LGT Midi-Pyrénées (again with the cooperation of Transports Lhéritier).

The second generation of transporters, led by Benjamin, Maxime and Victor Gonzalez, bought the Gironde-based road haulage company in 2015. GLS becomes Transports Goëvia in 2020. During this period, several changes were made within the company: deployment of a CSR policy focused on the environment and employee well-being, introduction of an online transport booking solution(Goëvia Online), renewal of vehicles to reduce the company’s carbon footprint (hybrid engines, B100, Euro 6 certification).
