Although last mile delivery in Gironde and Charente-Maritime represents the core business of Transports Goëvia, our teams are required to cross France from one end to the other on a daily basis. Within the framework of numerous partnerships, we load the goods in cities such as Lyon, Paris or even in the north of France to deliver them around Bordeaux and La Rochelle. For these shipments, which require hundreds – even thousands – of kilometers in a single round trip, our operators combine punctuality, responsiveness and ingenuity to offer the best quality of service to all our customers: focus on their know-how and their daily work.
The search for outbound flows from the Gironde, an obvious choice in transport and logistics
As a tourist region par excellence, the Gironde consumes more than it exports. Between the Arcachon basin, the Cap Ferret and the most beautiful lands of the Medoc, villages and towns welcome tourists all along Bordeaux. At the same time, in the cities and suburbs, as in the Bordeaux metropolis,industrial activity remains less dynamic than elsewhere in France… Because this sector of New Aquitaine lives mainly thanks to the tertiary industry.
Logically, our drivers often have to pick up the merchandise all over France before delivering it to the docks of the logistics warehouses in Bordeaux, Tonnay-Charente, Vayres and all the other cities in the region.
The challenge for our teams is to find a load on the “outbound” route, in order to avoid empty trips as much as possible.
A transportation plan specifically designed to facilitate outbound load search
In collaboration with our operations department and our in-house design office, we build a tailor-made transport plan in our Bordeaux-based transport company, designed to respond as efficiently as possible to all our customers’ problems.
So, when we have to pick up goods every day in a city like Lyon for a customer, we organize ourselves in such a way as to leave with a full truck. For this, we have the choice between two alternatives:
- Group the goods of several different shippers;
- Find a full load.
For this, we rely on our large network of customers throughout France, our partnership with Evolutrans and sometimes also freight exchanges, allowing us to complete the loads to optimize each route.
Shippers: tell us about your needs, we will adapt our transport plan
Through this management of long routes and the challenges of filling up vehicles on the outbound journey, we demonstrate our ability to be as agile as possible in all situations. Our client wants us to charge in Paris? We move and take care of finding goods on the way to avoid all empty trips.
In order to adapt to all configurations, we can, for example, take charge of foodstuffs on the outbound journey (with a refrigerated truck) and then return to the Bordeaux region with pallets for another customer which are general goods (and do not require refrigerated transport).
